Student Status and Age.
All school-age boys and girls in Grades 4th-12th grade or (at least 10 years old) that have the physical, mental and emotional maturity to participate in a shooting sport are eligible to participate in the BCS Youth League, Level I, II, or III.
Levels I, II, III are all expected to be able to load and unload their firearms safely, safely lock back the bolt or slide of their firearm, safely case / bag firearm, safely place/remove chamber flag, safely reload their magazines and follow all Safety Officer commands and BSCYL Governing Rules.
Not sure whether or not to enroll them into Level I? Let us know!!! Chuck can/will evaluate the skills they already posses, and give an honest assessment on whether they should take Level I.
Buckeye Shooting Center Youth League (BSCYL) Begins for Level I participants on June 5th. Level I participants will begin the Youth League with 4-weeks of classroom instruction prior to the shooting competition beginning July 3rd. Level II and Level III participants will begin the competition on July 3rd, and running every 2 weeks (i.e., July 3rd then July 17th). The off weeks will be used as make up weeks for kids who missed a week.
As a family run business, BSC understands that participants may miss a week or two due to family obligations. In knowing this is a likely possibility, there are make-up shoots for all BSCYL participants.
The BSCYL isn’t just about the competition. It builds skills, and most importantly teaches and reaffirms the safe operation of firearms. Every kid should go through a firearms safety course, why not have some fun doing it!
Your children are in extremely safe hands with the Mil/LE staff at BSC. The BSC Director of Training, Chuck, spent years as a School Resource Officer & As a D.A.R.E. Officer working with Central Ohio’s Youth. Additionally, Chuck is involved with the Scholastic Shooting Program and 4-H Shooting Programs.
Finally, did you know that your student can earn grants and scholarships in the shooting sports? Our Ohio State Buckeye Shooting Team is one of the best programs in the world!!!
